Electronics and Readout Chip for the CMS Phase 2 Pixel Upgrade

A brief introduction will be given on the CMS pixel detector and its planned upgrades.

The general requirements for the Phase 2 upgrade planned for ~2022 will be outlined and the general electronics and the architecture and implementation of a new pixel readout chip in 65nm CMOS will be described.

The establishment between ATLAS and CMS of an RD collaboration to work on 65nm pixel ASICs for very high rates and very high radiation levels will also be mentioned
