Title: Skyrmions, instantons and holography Abstract: More than 20 years ago, Atiyah and Manton found that Skyrmion solutions can be well approximated by computing the holonomy of YM instantons. In recent years this relation was found to be rigorously valid in the holographic framework. As a first approximation, we use Skyrmions generated from flat-space instanton solutions to study various baryon properties, treating the instanton size as an arbitrary variable. It is found that, a large instanton size is required to reproduce the physical axial coupling. This is consistent with the observation in the holographic description that the instanton size receives large quantum corrections when treated as a collective coordinate. From such an instanton configuration, our predictions for other baryon quantities in the Skyrme model improve the original results quite a lot, with no fine-tuning of the mesonic parameters.
