Description

In this presentation, the scientific requirements for an accelerator based long-baseline experiment will be reviewed including implications of the new determination of the third mixing angle (θ13~9o). The design of the US Long-Baseline Neutrino Experiment with a broad-band beam from Fermilab to the Homestake mine in South Dakota 1300 km away to a liquid argon time projection detector will be described. The technical status of the experiment and organization will be described.
