Description
Understanding lithium depletion in stars is a key ingredient for many astrophysical topics. In stars, lithium is quickly destroyed through the 6Li(p,a)3He and 6Li(p,g)7Be reactions.
The 6Li(p,g)7Be reaction cross section has been measured recently at the LUNA 400kV accelerator in an energy range from 70 keV to 400 keV in the laboratory system. The setup was composed of a high purity germanium detector in close geometry and a silicon detector to measure at the same time the (p,a) channel that will be used a normalization.
For the calibration certified radioactive sources were used in combination with the well known resonance of 14N(p,g)15O reaction at Ep = 278 keV. A careful target analysis has been performed at the HZDR of Dresden Rossendorf.
A detailed description of the setup and the measurement methodology will be presented and the preliminary results shown.
Additionally, the new experiment to be performed at the AN2000 accelerator of LNL will be discussed in order to extend the datasets acquired at LUNA to energies from 500 keV up to 1.5 MeV.
