Ultimi sviluppi sull'osservazione di onde gravitazionali

Dopo l'annuncio del 16 ottobre in questo seminario verranno discussi gli ultimi sviluppi sulla rivelazione delle onde gravitazionali e la controparte elettromagnetica.

Titolo: Gravitational-wave observation: the tale of the discoveries

Abstract: The recent sensitivity improvements of the worldwide advanced gravitational-wave detector network has allowed us to detect the first transient gravitational-wave signal, marking thus the official beginning of the gravitational-wave astronomy.

We have then started to hone the comprehension of some of the objects populating our Universe. In this seminar I will describe the fundamental steps that have brought us to this revolutionary discovery, together with the implications and the further challenges that are waiting for us.

Titolo: Gravitational-wave observation:the electromagnetic follow-up

Abstract: As the Multi-Messenger era begins with detections of gravitational waves with LIGO/Virgo, the Fermi instruments, the Gamma-Ray Burst Monitor (GBM) and the Large Area Telescope (LAT), provide context observations of gamma-ray transients. Here, we report on the the searches of GBM and LAT data for electromagnetic counterparts to gravitational waves during the second observing run of LIGO/Virgo.
