Description

I Dott. Alessio Avella ed Ivano Ruo-Berchera, ricercatori presso INRIM Torino, terranno un seminario sul tema

"Progresses in quantum measurement and quantum imaging at INRIM".

ABSTRACT: Quantum properties of light such as quantum correlations have disclosed the possibility to go far beyond the limit of conventional optical measurements.

Many protocols have been proposed and some of them partially realized in proof of principle experiments.

However, their promised extraordinary enhancement is usually strongly affected by decoherence and losses of the real world and the main challenge is now to bridge the gap between proof of principle and applications.

INRIM, on one side, has developed application oriented quantum techniques which are well beyond the proof of principle, such as sub-shot-noise wide field microscopy and super-resolved confocal microscopy. On the other side, it is committed in exploring novel paradigms in quantum measurement, namely weak value, which could represent a new perspective for a wide range of fields, from experiments on foundation of quantum mechanics to quantum information protocols.
