The National Seminar of Nuclear and Subnuclear Physics reaches its XXX edition.

The Seminar, also known as School of Otranto, has traditionally proposed a pioneering approach in combining scientific and applicative topics, with emphasis on social-economical and industrial implications of the research.

Starting from the very first editions, the School has assumed as its goal to train a new model of researcher, able to communicate efficiently with the general public, the industry, the financial and political institutions, and to get an economical gain from the outcome of the research through the transfer of knowledge and technology towards the production system.

The Seminar is open to participation of graduate students, post-doc and young researchers active at Universities and Research Institutes.

The courses will take place from the morning of June 6 to the afternoon of June 11. Daily lecturing time foreseen: 9.00-12.00 and 16.30-19.30.

Topics:
  • Heavy-ion and p-p Physics at LHC
  • Multi-messenger Astroparticle Physics: gravitational waves, photons, neutrinos, cosmic rays
  • Nuclear Astrophysics
  • Innovative Techniques for acceleration of particle beams
  • Technological choices for Dark Matter search
  • Machine Learning
  • Transfer of Knowledge
  • European Projects: how to seize your opportunities

During the School, a public outreach event will take place at Otranto with the participation of prof. Fernando Ferroni, President of Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare. The event will take place on June 7 at the castle of Otranto.

The School will comprise a session dedicated to Science Communication, in which the participants are invited to present -in about 10 minutes- their research activity. A prize is foreseen for the best presentation.
