Description

A perturbative solution of the conformal anomaly equation was found by Riegert in 1984.
The expansion of his solution around flat space has predicted the appearence of a massless pole
in the effective action describing the low-energy interaction of matter with gravity, thus motivating perturbative one loop computations of three point Green functions of
one energy-momentum tensor and two neutral gauge currents in the Standard Model.
The predicted massless pole was found in all the cases examined and its couplings closely mimic the behaviour predicted for dilatons.
In this seminar, we present the results of these computations and discuss some issues connected with the physical interpretation of this degree of freedom.
