Title
Strangeness production in a statistical effective model for hadronisation
Abstract
We discuss a microscopic model for strangeness production in high
energy collisions, based on a statistical ansatz for the hadronisation
process. The calculation of constituent quark production is based on
the mean-field Nambu-Jona Lasinio effective potential supplemented
with exact conservation of color and flavor charges over different
volumes. We find that, with simple and reasonable assumptions, the
relative production of strange quarks with respect to u and d quarks
can be well reproduced in all examined collisions, except for some
discrepancy in pp collisions.
By also fitting the total u, d, s multiplicities, we discuss their
compatibility with color deconfinement over large volumes in heavy
ion collisions.
